Fear Labs is an intense, extreme experience.
We're the haunted house experience for those who don't find regular haunted houses scary. Fear Labs has innovative ways of scaring you that mainstream haunts won't do. Fear Labs is not an attraction for the faint of heart.
However, Fear Labs is not a torture house! The experience is open to the public (18+, or 16+ with parental consent) and is designed to be a fun, terrifying experience. We want you to be scared, we want to push you outside of your comfort zone, but we also want you to have a good time.
What you need to know
• The safe phrase is "I Surrender"
Our safe phrase, "I Surrender", is your way of telling our actors that you are not comfortable with whatever is happening. You can use the phrase to either exit the current room or leave the experience entirely.
Please note, there are some rooms that you may not be able to "surrender out of" until the room has finished for safety reasons. Where this is the case, you will be informed before entering the room.
A "safe gesture" is available for those who are unable to speak or shout the safe phrase "I Surrender". However, please be aware that this may not be as effective as the safe phrase as it requires the actors to see you.
• Our actors can touch you, but you can't touch them back
Touching will never be aggressive or inappropriate. Our actors are trained to know the limits of what is acceptable and what is not. If you touch an actor, you will be asked to leave the experience without a refund.
• The haunt includes extreme effects
We use extreme effects in our haunt that most other haunts in the world do not. This is not a marketing gimmick. You are likely to come into contact with / experience the following during your experience:
- Electrical shocks
- Water
- Claustrophobic and tight spaces
- Extreme temperatures
- Fire
- Separation from your group
- Foul smells
- Complete darkness
- Moving floors and walls
- Compressed air and intense winds
We also make use of the following effects:
- Blinding / strobing lights, lasers
- Large volumes of smoke, fog and atmospheric haze
- Loud, startling noises
Our cast may also:
- Shout and yell at you
- Use strong language
- Use physical contact to guide you (for safety)
- Use physical contact to scare you
- Use innuendo and mildly sexual themes
• This isn't a "conga line" haunt
Many haunted houses are designed to be walked through in a line, with the group in front of you and the group behind you. Fear Labs is different. You won't see any other groups during your experience, and you won't be able to see the group in front of you or behind you. You will be alone with your group, and you will be separated from your group at times.
• Do not bring your phone, electronics or valuables
There is a high risk of damage to your phone, electronics or valuables during the experience. We recommend leaving them at home or in your car. We are not responsible for any damage to your belongings. There is no space to store your belongings during the experience.
Fear Labs is not for everyone
If you have the following conditions, we strongly advise you not to enter Fear Labs:
- Heart conditions, pacemakers (intensity, electrical shocks)
- Seizure disorders (strobe lighting, electrical shocks)
- Respiratory conditions, asthma (smoke, fog, foul smells)
- Back, neck, joint or muscular conditions (claustrophobia, tight spaces, moving floors)
- Broken bones, recent surgeries (claustrophobia, tight spaces, moving floors)
- Expectant mothers (obviously...)
If you suffer from PTSD, anxiety, depression or any other mental health condition, you may want to consider whether Fear Labs is right for you. You can always use the safe phrase "I Surrender" to either exit the current room or leave the experience entirely. While the haunt is not designed to be triggering, it is intense and may not be suitable for everyone. As the haunt allows actors to touch you, you may want to consider whether this is something you are comfortable with.
Accessibility
Whilst every effort has been made to make Fear Labs accessible to all, due to the nature of the experience, there are some limitations:
- Some rooms may not be accessible to wheelchair users, including rooms with stairs, tight spaces and moving floors. However, we will do our best to accommodate you, so please let us know in advance if you have any accessibility requirements.
- The haunt is fast-paced and intense, and may not be suitable for those with mobility issues or who are unable to walk or stand for long periods of time.
- A "safe gesture" is available for those who are unable to speak or shout the safe phrase "I Surrender". However, please be aware that this may not be as effective as the safe phrase as it requires the actors to see you.
- Some effects may not be suitable for those with sensory processing disorders, including loud noises, flashing lights and strong smells.
- Due to the claustrophobic and tight spaces used in the haunt, some rooms may not be suitable for those who are heavily overweight. However, we will do our best to accommodate you, so please let us know in advance if you have any accessibility requirements.
